Community Education

Heartbreak's work in the community is wide ranging. Our story telling utilises both Film and Theatre techniques. We are focused on developing the communities or participants own voice and actively seek challenging material to develop.

Out theatre style predominantly uses a technique called Forum Theatre.  Forum Theatre is a unique and wonderfully effective medium for engaging community groups in solution-focused dialogue about some of the issues that affect them. A typical Forum Theatre piece would present a story similar to the actual experiences of the community and focus on a particular difficulty they face. The community audience is invited to pause the performance and bring their own ideas and suggestions to change the course of actions and work towards resolving the situation.

With Film for seven years we have been training participants to make films, through a combination of story development and technical support. The results are screened allowing all participants to have an exciting and rewarding experience.
